 · Born in Blackpool and raised in St Albans Maddy Prior first came to prominence as a duo with singer/ guitarist Tim Hart, building a reputation around the folk clubs and releasing two albums. As the 70s dawned, they joined forces with Ashley Hutchings (of Fairport Convention) and Gay & Terry Woods, with the idea of fusing folk song with rock instrumentation and technique.

Heydays is a great collection of the three albums recorded by Tim Hart and Maddy Prior. The great thing is that the sound of the discs have been re mastered and bring all three albums together. Disc one has the albums Folk songs of old England volumes one and two together on one disc/5(33).

  1.  · This compilations consists of all tracks from the three - now deleted - albums by Tim Hart and Maddy Prior, Folk Songs of Old England Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 and Summer Solstice. This double CD was originally to be titled Heyday (see right cover picture) but was renamed to Heydays on first delivery.

  2.  · Disky's Maddy Prior and Tim Hart compilation couldn't have come at a worse time. Long out of print, their pivotal Folk Songs of Olde England, Vol.1 and Vol. 2, were highly sought after by British folk aficionados, and the appearance of tracks from those records -- as well as selections from Summer Solstice-- left many fans clamoring for a more thorough reissue.5/

  3.  · The first one uses only guitar and mandolin arrangements, and in some of the songs you can only hear Hart’s and Prior’s voices (Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy is an example). Tim Hart even sings some songs on his own, without Maddy Prior or any instrumental arrangement (The Rambling Sailor).Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins.
